    Description of Services

      Mental Health Support is:

      Training and support integrated with psychiatric treatments to enable individuals with severe and persistent mental illness to achieve and maintain community stability and independence

      Educating and assisting clients to learn coping strategies and utilize information about how to manage psychiatric illnesses

      Providing comprehensive and eclectic psychosocial interventions that assist a person in increasing and maintaining competence in normal life activities

      Promoting empowerment, reinforce self-help strategies, and maximize choice and preference in service provisions

      Reducing barriers caused by the stigma of mental illness as experienced by those with serious mental illnesses

      Improving participant’s quality of life

      Service Components:

      Training or reinforcement of functional skills in daily living

      Assistance with medical/psychiatric appointments

      Training in medication management

      Education about mental illness & medication

      Opportunities for peer support & coordination/use of community resources

      Promotion of community integration; money and time management

      Assist with obtaining and establishing decent, affordable and safe housing

      Education in appropriate social and relationship skills

      Training in self advocacy

      Teaching/Reinforcement of skills related to health, nutrition, safety & physical condition

Therapeutic Day Treatment

    Description of Services

      Therapeutic Day Treatment is:

      Creative Programming-We offer creative programming that works in conjunction with educational services and the mission of the schools.

      Services to youth requiring a more intensive level of individualized services that are at risk for residential placement or homebound instruction.

      Integration of our services within the education system and support its programs and services.

      Clinical Alternatives, P.C. recognizes the importance of focusing on the school’s mission-while offering students and their families’ services to increase success within the school and reduce out of school placements.

      Service Components

      Individual goal setting with the opportunity to practice skills and achieve the goals necessary for school and personal success.

      Individualized service plans developed from an assessment of each child’s needs that focuses on their treatment goals.

      Group time which including work on social skills and peer relations. Groups may consist of anger management, conflict resolution, self-esteem building, impulse control, and behavior management.

      Activities including the use of therapeutic treatment groups, psycho-educational group sessions, and specialized individual counseling.

      Individual counseling occurs once a week or more as needed includes education related to medication management specific to each child.

      Parent/Guardian involvement, twice a week staff communicates with parents/guardians, to discuss youth progress, family concerns, and any need for additional services.

      Case management coordination and wrap around services are an integral part of Clinical Alternatives Therapeutic Day Treatment Program.

INTENSIVE HOME BASED SERVICES

    Description of Services

      Family preservation is a priority

      Prevention of unnecessary out of home placement

      Families play an integral part of the goal setting process

      Belief that families can grow and change

      SERVICE COMPONENTS

      Intensive, home based family counseling

      Services provided in the home and locations where the family interacts with the community

      Solution-focused intervention; attention to patterns of solutions rather than identified problems

      Staff accessibility – 24 hours/day; 7 days/week

      Individual and group supervision provided to all Family Therapists by Licensed Professionals

      Small caseloads

      Co-therapists assigned to many cases

      Crisis intervention

      Coordination with and referrals to community resources

      Assistance in obtaining concrete services to meet basic needs (housing, clothing, food, financial assistance, etc.)

      Teaching families how to advocate for themselves

      Recommended services are 8 hours/week for 3 months (Length and hours of service may require adjustment based on individual needs of the family)

      Adjunct Programs: Psychological Testing, Adolescent Sex Offender Program, Women and Families with HIV/AIDS, “Buddy” Program, Respite, Friendly Visitors Supervised Visitation Program, Individual/Family/Group Therapy, and Consulting

      Other specific programs can be designed to fit the needs of individual families, groups, or communities

ADOLESCENT SEX OFFENDER TREATMENT

    Description of Services

      Treatment Goals

      Treatment decreases risk of re-offense

      Community safety is paramount and is in the best interest of adolescent offenders and their families

      A team approach between the offender, family, court services, child welfare, clients’ support persons, and therapist are critical to successful treatment

      Sex offender treatment is cost-effective

      The earlier treatment is provided, the greater the likelihood of preventing continued offending

      Sex offender treatment is different from traditional therapy, and therefore, providers should be certified in order to ensure appropriate treatment for sex offenders

      SERVICE COMPONENTS

      Psychosexual Assessment - Completed by a Certified Sex Offender Therapist to interview offender and the parents to consider the risk factors, assess youth’s defenses, and make recommendations for the best possible treatment outcome while ensuring community and client safety.

      Diagnostic Assessment - Completed by the family therapist within the first thirty days. This is a comprehensive social history that supports and complements the intake screening assessment. Emphasis will be on assessing the adolescent within the family system.

      Individual Therapy – conducted by Certified Sex Offender Therapists

      TREATMENT GROUPS:

        Conducted by Certified Sex Offender Therapists
        One hour sessions weekly
        Cognitive behavioral with a focus on interpersonal process

      Primary Treatment Group

        For youth with sexual offense histories
        Primary goal is to assist in understanding the individual patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that lead to sexually acting out and developing tools and strategies to avoid relapse
        Specific goals include: healthy masculinity, healthy sexuality, impulse/arousal control, social skills, anger management, empathy enhancement, and relapse prevention

      Relapse Prevention Group

        For those youth who have achieved primary treatment goals
        Primary goal is the development of relapse prevention strategies and plan
        Specific goals include: introduction to relapse prevention, relapse chain, the identification of high risk situations and coping skills, and the identification and use of support
